Cheesy Corn Chowder

1/2 cup diced green onion

2 cups diced potato

1 cup diced carrots

1 cup diced celery

1 cup water

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons margarine

1 16 oz. Can creamed com

1 cup milk

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Place onions, potatoes, carrots, celery, water, salt and mar­garine in a large saucepan.
Boil for 5 minutes, then simmer for 20 minutes.
Reduce heat to low, then add; com, milk and cheese. Heat until cheese melts.

Optional: Add 1 cup chopped, cooked ham and 2 table­spoons chopped pimentos.
